Andrew & Bree's Kimo adventure

Wiradjuri country, Kimo Estate (one of our favs), NSW

SO there we were at KIMO estate, a place that symbolised what Andrew + Bree love, and what they’re working towards. A piece of land and a house in the prairie, enabling them to witness the change of seasons reflected through the colours in the landscape. Bree and Andrew felt Kimo provided many-a opportunity to be present and what a special occasion to be present and in awe together.

Marriage is a celebration of what they’ve learnt and what they’ve experienced. It acts as a formal acknowledgment that they will continue to grow together, for the rest of their lives. And sharing this with commitment with their humans, the people they love, was important to them both.

They had a friend of theirs share a special reading, this is one thing we encourage couples to ponder. Historically, we associate readings with religious connotations. BUT, they don’t have to be anywhere near that. Read this beaut a few times.

From Thief of Time by Bree’s favorite author, Terry Pratchett:

“When contemplating the nature of time, we can understand that the universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. Therefore, there is, in truth, no past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.”

Bree and Andrew met over 10 years ago on their way to Venturers. Andrew was sitting in the back seat of the car behind Bree and she hadn’t yet seen him because she was too shy to turn around and say hello, but she thought his voice sounded cute. When they arrived at their destination, Andrew uncurled from the back seat. He had long purple hair, was super tall, wore bright colors and a smile that would knock your socks off. Bree felt instantly nervous and awkward – that was the beginning of her crush.

For Andrew, it was love at first sight. She was a lady with a mind for adventure and exploration, full of inspiration and imagination, a perfect match for his own. He was hooked.

For Bree, it took a bit of time before she was 100% sure. This is common in their relationship.

For example, when Andrew proposed in the vegetable garden they built, with their dogs nearby and Bree’s favorite yellow roses in bloom. It took her completely by surprise, but after a week of thinking about it… she said yes! Andrew expected such a reaction from Bree because she always has to mull things over and do her research before making a decision, whether it be buying dog toys or getting married.

Much of the magic for these love birds lies in their mutual understanding and support for one another; their ying and yang like nature that balances each other out. Andrew’s pragmatic and structured, but not so empathetic. Bree is the polar opposite, a lot of empathy and spontaneity, but can get lost in feelings, Andrew is there as her touchstone for realism.

It’s in the simple yet profound things for Andrew and Bree. It could be eating a sandwich at a random café and looking across the table at each other, there’s smiles and a feeling of excitement and happiness that makes you want to burst. Moments like holding hands and gazing at a spectacular view with a deep sense of groundedness, safety and wonder. The little moments like singalongs and dancing that happen in the car.

Whilst Bree has a reputation for adventure and spontaneity, and they both have dreams and goals for the future, it’s obvious that this relationship is not actually about doing but about being. About being the number one fan, supporter and friend to the person they love the most in the world.

And that is… their story. For now…
