Tips For Writing Your Wedding Vows

When it comes to your wedding day, every element of the day has been thought out, presumably you and your partner are aware of most if not all the details of your day to come.

Hence why it’s fun to keep just one thing separate (therefore a sweet surprise) for each other on the day…

Whilst the decision re what to do with vows is up to the lovers, personally, I think vows are best written separately and kept secret until the big day… It would be one of my favourite components of a ceremony. I offer to help couple piece together their words in order to find the middle ground, ensuring they’re a similar vibe and length. The anticipation of sharing heart felt and often humorous vows, is fun and exciting.

We totally get that writing your vows can be quite the challenge. Us here at MUS recommend you keep some notes in the lead up to penning yours. Whether it be on a scrap piece of paper, or in your notes section on your mobile. Keep some one liners about why you love your partner, things they do for you that take your breath away, or just the everyday moments that warm. When the time comes to writing your own you will have a few prompts to get started.

Some pointers from us at MUS;

  • First and foremost, decide if you’d like to keep your vows separate from one another.

  • Be heartfelt but be cheeky too!!!

  • Vows require thought but they are also to be approached with a certain lightness… After all, it is the simple things that get us all ticking.

  • Vows are a chance to remind your partner what they mean to you in front of your loved ones.

  • If you are not comfortable sharing your deepest darkest feelings for your soon to be other half then write them a love letter the morning of your wedding and keep your vows on the surface. By the time you get married, we know that you’ve more than likely shared your feelings again and again…

  • Vows are a good opportunity to remind your lover how legendary they are, and also pull at the heart strings of your guests… (my personal favourite)

  • It is worth noting that you can have your vows exactly the same also…

Lastly, hit us up if you’ve got any more questions re penning your vows. We are here to help.
